January 2019 Beauty Favorites

January Check-in:

I’ve gotten much better with consistency in my beauty routine. I’m so quick to use a product once or twice, then go to the next one just for the sake of saying I’ve tried it. I feel as though I’m doing myself, and you all that look forward to my posts (thank you for supporting!) a disservice. I’m taking more time to dive deep into my products, and by doing so, I’m able to share detailed and accurate reviews!

Below you’ll find the 11 items that made it to my January 2019 faves. Enjoy!

·MAKEUP·

Rihanna dropped some new additions to her Fenty Beauty collection this month: Pro Filt’r ConcealerPro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder, and a few tools. I picked up the concealer (shade 410), the setting powder (in Banana), and the Powder Puff Setting Brush.

I fell in love with the concealer almost immediately. Its buttery texture allows for it to blend exceptionally well with the use of a moist beauty blender. The setting powder adds just a touch of brightness, and there’s an ease of application with the setting brush.

On to Lip Stunna in Unveil. The PERFECT brown! I was a little uneasy about the consistency because of how fluid-like it is, but once it’s on and dry, it’s not going anywhere! Both the formula and shade are a 10 out of 10.

·SKINCARE·

I’ve been trying out a new face wash in lieu of my usual First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Acne Clearing Charcoal Cleanser, and so far, so good. Urban Skin Rx’s Even Tone Cleansing Bar is a mild cleanser and has an exfoliation bonus due to the included facial sponge. I have noticed that my skin is becoming more even, but I still struggle with a few stubborn dark marks on my cheek area. Nonetheless, it doesn’t strip my skin, and it’s ultimately smoother with using this daily.

As far as serums go, I love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. The main ingredient is lavender (which is the big reason I love slathering this over my face each night). It also contains evening primrose and squalene, which both increase the moisturizing properties of this product. I always wake up moisturized and glowing after using this, and even after using……

Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. Firstly, let me start with the fact that this mist contains mint. If you follow me on IG, you know I live for just about anything mint! I love topping my serums off with Beauty Elixir and using my Sephora rose quartz facial roller to seal everything in. I haven’t committed fully to purchasing the large bottle, but that’s definitely on my beauty wish list.

·HAIR·

Mielle Organics is a brand that I’ve heard of nonstop over the years, and when my current internship, CURLBOX, did a specialty box with them, I was all over these two products. The Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil contains biotin for hair growth and leaves my scalp refreshed (perks of the mint). Along with this helping to grow my hair, I’ve been taking Mielle Organics’ Gummy Healthy Hair Vitamins. They became an instant fave because they taste JUST like candy. With both of these products, my hair is flourishing!

·FRAGRANCE·

I had to slow down on my all-time favorite perfume, Very Irresistible by Givenchy, and make room for Marc Jacobs Daisy Love and Gucci Bamboo. Daisy Love’s top note is cloudberry. It’s similar to raspberries and blackberries and gives the fragrance its signature sweetness. The heart note of daisy tree leaves and the base note of cashmere musk and driftwood balance the scent and have a pleasantly dry finish.

I was gifted Gucci Bamboo for Christmas and never thought twice about buying it for myself before then. Bamboo is on the fresher side of fragrances. It has a top note of bergamot and a heart note of Casablanca lily and ylang-ylang. Its fresh scent and subtle sweetness work well with my chemistry, and it’ll have a place in my perfume corner for a while!
