I love finding new places to visit in Atlanta, especially when they’re beauty related.
When I heard about the Iwi Fresh Garden Day Spa, I immediately wanted to visit. I’m intrigued by the fact that it’s black owned, all the products are made in store, and they’re 100% natural. Creator and owner Yolanda Owens’ vision of Iwi was inspired by her grandmother. Iwi’s meaning ‘it is what it is’ describes the simplicity of ingredients in the products. Every ingredient is something you can pronounce, and probably have used or eaten at one point or another lol.
Atmosphere
When I entered Iwi, I was first directed down a plant lined walkway which opened into the shop. You’re immediately surrounded by the smells of natural oils ranging from sweet fruits, to to natural herbs like mint and rosemary. What I loved most about Iwi was the music choice: Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jazz, and Floetry just to name a few.
Services
Iwi Fresh provides facials, waxing, body massages, hair and nail services. I was surprised when I found out about the nail services being that when I walked in, I wasn’t attack by the usual smell of acetone and nail polish associated with most nail salons. Iwi uses natural nail polish, and for their other services, they, of course, use Iwi products. Iwi is also the home of Atlanta Hot Shave! So my men who are looking for a new barbershop, with a classic, soulful vibe, this is the place for you.
Products
My favorite part! So, Iwi offers products for face, body, and hair. I was immediately directed to the giant glass jars filled with scented base oils. Scents included Country Boy, Zesty Lime Life, Strawberry Mint, Lavender Cucumber, Hot Butter Grits and so many more! As if the oils weren’t enough, there are also body scrubs with the same scents. Transitioning from body to face, Iwi has a “Farm to Skin Mask Bar” in which you tell an associate about your skin type, problems you face, and goals you have for your skin, and they make a custom mask fit for you. After your mask, you’ll definitely need a moisturizer. Iwi’s number one selling face moisturizer is the 14 Carrot Glow (review coming soon) which is made of fresh carrots and other natural ingredients. After applying it to my hand, I knew it was a must buy. Now, let’s get into these hair products. Iwi has exactly what you need for washing, moisturizing and taming from the Smells So Good Hair Oil, Throwback Curls Pomade to the Rosemary Shampoo and Conditioner.
Overall my experience at Iwi has made me proud to tell others about it, and will keep me coming back.
